Saurabh Khandelwal, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a board-certified surgeon, Medical Director of the UW Medicine Bariatric Surgery Program, co-Director of the UW Center for Weight Loss and Metabolic Surgery, Associate Director for the UW Department of Surgery Minimally Invasive Surgery/Advanced GI Fellowship, and a UW Associate Professor of Surgery.

Saurabh Khandelwal, MD, FACS, FASMBS

Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Khandelwal has extensive experience in advanced, minimally invasive weight management and metabolic operations including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and revisional surgery. He has expertise in the surgical treatment of diabetes and obesity related metabolic disorders. Dr. Khandelwal is a strong believer in the team approach to patient care to meet the needs of each individual patient. The Center for Weight Loss and Metabolic Surgery at SLU and Roosevelt have been designed to provide this multifaceted, patient-centered care for every patient.

Dr. Khandelwal’s research focuses on clinical outcomes of bariatric and esophageal surgeries, surgical education and training. Training residents and fellows is a highlight of his role in the Division of General Surgery. Dr. Khandelwal is involved in committee work that strives to reduce cost and improve efficiency in the operating rooms at UW Medical Center – Montlake. He has had, and continues to play, a significant role in the enterprise-wide transition to unified electronic health records for UW Medicine.
