Dr. Chengelis, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon with more than 36 years of experience. His area of expertise includes – advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures, gallbladder, hernias, and gastrointestinal reflux surgeries along with various bariatric surgeries like gastric sleeve and gastric bypass.

​Medical background:

He got his Medical Degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He did his Residency in Internal Medicine from Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis and his Surgical Residency from the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. For his Fellowship Training in surgical critical care, he went to the University of Florida College of Medicine at Jacksonville.
