Daniel Leslie, MD, is a Professor and Chief of the Division of GI/Bariatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota, the system-wide Director of the Comprehensive Weight Management Program for University of Minnesota Health/Fairview, and the Medical Director for CentraCare Weight Management. He completed his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by a residency and fellowship in General Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Minnesota.

He has been on staff at the University of Minnesota since 2007. He is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and has board certification in surgery (ABS) and obesity medicine (ABOM).Academically, Dr. Leslie has co-authored five book chapters and has authored or co-authored over fifty peer-reviewed publications. He has presented dozens of abstracts locally, nationally, and internationally. He has an active interest in diabetes and cardiovascular risk reduction after bariatric procedures, as well as novel interventions to treat bariatric patients.
