He graduated from Texas Tech. University School of Medicine, El Paso, TX. He did his Ph.D. in Experimental Surgery from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He completed his Surgical Residency from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan. For Fellowship Training in Surgical Critical Care, he went to the University of Minnesota Hospitals & Clinics, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
